3 Artist Websites

I like David Zinn's website because it's simple, but still colorful and engaging. The main focus is always his art, that of which is incredibly eye-catching and lovable. He's able to fit all the information you need in a website you can't get lost in (an aspect I appreciate a lot). A lot of the art he does is for free, as he does it for a more therapeutic reason and enjoys just letting people find it on the streets, so I think having his books constantly available for purchase on the left side of the website where advertisements would typically be found is a really smart choice. His little creatures are very dear to him, so them being plastered anywhere they can be on his site is a very fitting setup that is perfectly visually appealing, especially since the movement of the website allows them to just pop into view like his work usually does in real life: out and about in Ann Arbor.

I'm not sure if music artists count, but I really like Lovejoy's website. It really hones in on what's next for them and is again very clear. I love the useful of interesting backgrounds that make it known who they are and images that would otherwise identify them. The hierarchy of what your eyes are drawn to first is really well done, as first it's their name aka title, then their social media links as they are an online-centered band, then the buttons leading to their merchandise and tour dates. Everything feels orderly yet still loud and exciting.

Yayoi Kusama's site stood out to me because of how on theme it was. The navigation is clear and always available in the top right corner, and as you move around, the dots change color. Her entire career and inspiration is founded purely on dots, so to see such an important thing to her highlighted so well left me awestruck and switching back and forth between pages just for the fun of it. I also really enjoy her full-body picture on the first page, so you can immediately put a face to her name and it's clear the style she loves and strives for with how she presents herself.
