Adobe Photoshop used in an experimental project to seamlessly put together two photos, the scenery photo being from a parking lot in Toledo while the mannequin photo is from UT's Center of Visual Arts, both taken by me.

Adobe Photoshop and at least three different photos per product was used to create this series of edited photos which is known as Assignment #1 in digital media. I had chosen a theme focusing on death and the creeping vibes that comes with that. The background photos were all taken around Toledo while the photos including my own self, as the project was centered on a self-portrait idea, were taken in my dorm room with a white sheet I had acting as my own sort of greenscreen, helping me better stitch these photos together.

sam ruff - tainted trinkets logos.jpg

This project was made in Adobe Illustrator and became known as Assignment #2. Our goal was to create a fake company and make a logo for it with merchandise, so I created Tainted Trinkets, a resale/trinket shop with a fantasy-style vibe. The logo is meant to replicate a simplified dragon eye, which can also be hinted at with the adjoining slogan, "a real dragon's hoard!"

For Assignment #3, we used Audacity, freesound.com, and Soundcloud in order to create an audio project. Our goal was to make a sound effect collage of sorts, not a song, but it could be a story. I decided I wanted to recreate how it feels to be not only chased, but trapped. I used a buildup effect along with an overwhelming type of feeling to make this happen. Based on class and other peer feedback, it achieved what I had hoped for along with an overstimulating feeling.

Our last project, Assignment #4, used iMovie to help make an adjoining video to the previous audio project. I knew what feeling I had been going for, but now I got to incorporate imagery that could provide a more complex and deeper meaning, so I was excited. I tried to used mainly videos of/with people to go along with my inhuman sounds for a contrasting effect; I also hoped this would allude to the idea of the human condition.
